A Bit Of A Retreat

With the audit completed, Nancy and I had a chance to take a bit of a retreat last week up on the Sunshine Coast in a town called Coolum. While I was participating in the Regional Airline Association of Australia's Annual Convention, Nancy was able to enjoy a bit of the tropical beauty of springtime Down Under. My sessions lasted most of the day, with social functions in the evening, which gave Nancy time to do a bit of relaxing, reading (John Fischer's book - Saint Ben) and becoming an avid "Mount Coolum climber". She decided to climb the local landmark each and every day and on the 3rd day, convinced me to join her on her quest. It's a pretty decent climb, taking around 1/2 hour if you push it, and far less extreme than the Mount Beerwah attempt made when Bethany was visiting. More pictures from Mount Coolum are at the end of this Blog entry.

We had Saturday to hang out together, take a bit of a drive and visit the beach - where I was able to take a couple of 10K runs along the water. The weather was next to perfect and we both got a bit toasted by the sun - which you really need to watch out for down here as it's far more extreme than in Michigan. 30 minutes (per side) will get you pretty red - especially if you haven't been out much (due to the "cold" winter weather here).

Nancy's air shipment box from home showed up today - so our apartment is starting to look a lot more like home. Essentials like one of our paintings, some cookware, pictures and one of Shelly Mattson's famous "gazing balls" now add a bit of comfortable familiarity to the Brisbane scene. Nancy is keeping busy by making covers for the cushions of our patio furniture, being asked to assist with some book keeping at our adopted church, doing a bit of exploring with friends here and trying to keep everything back home running smoothly via the Internet.

Kevin and the Everyday Sunday guys just finished a video shoot in Nashville - the video if "Wake Up! Wake Up!" turned out pretty well and if you click on the link (and have a bit of patience while it's loading), you can take a peek.

I'll close for now with another request for any pictures that you might have from your part of the world. We miss home and would really enjoy being able to share a bit of your life and the things that are going on currently. Thanks to those who took us up on our request - more pictures (or links) would be great!

Looks like a beautiful place! It must be a relief to have the audit done and actually be able to enjoy the adventure and differences of being in Australia. I went to a breakfast meeting today and Roger Eikenberry was there and asking about you. He wishes you were local so he could get you involved in the "Alive on the Lakeshore" group. I think Charlie Barnes is now officially a part of that group too. I sat next to Tom Beetham and he said things are going well at OVCC. Drop him a line! Glad you're doing well and appreciated the time on the phone with you last week!

Love you brother-

Craig

Sounds like you two are having a great time. Glad to see that you two are able to spend great time together even in the midst of audits! (~yuck~)

Hope you experience some peace today!

Hey Rick! I finally got this blog thing figured out. I don't need to have a user name!? I wish I would have figured that out before. It's great to see all the pictures. We really miss you guys a ton. Thanks again for the computer. It's a wonderful thing to be technological. I'll try to figure out how to forward some pictures.

I should probably sign an "anonymous" comment.

God Bless,
